May 19th Meeting - Apache Pass
The May 19th BARF meeting is at Apache Pass, near Rockdale Texas. http://www.apachepass.com/ Apache Pass 9112 N FM 908, Rockdale TX 76567 We will park and camp in the Event Center area that is on the north side of FM 908. Turn in under the Apache Pass Arrow sign and find a good camp site under the giant pecan trees. From the owner “There will not be a charge to use the
airfield but please be aware, and share with your pilots, this is a private
airfield with a "use at your own risk" policy. We did use the
airfield but several pilots found the large grass area near the campers
adequate too. Let’s hope for good flying weather. |

Minutes of the January Meeting
The January meeting at Lone Star Flight Museum had amazing attendance with 22 members and guests present! The group was provided a docent to explain the significance of the exhibited airplanes and a special showing, live narrative of the historical Doolittle Raid on Japan. In that raid there were 11 Texan aviators, more than any other state, of the 80 volunteer. The lone survivor still lives near Comfort TX, Richard Cole, now 102 years old. https://www.stripes.com/news/1-member-of-the-doolittle-raid-remains-as-fellow-airman-dies-1.415959
The meeting was called to order at Papagayo’s Mexican Bar and Grill after the tour. Discussion centered on the new year’s schedule of events – see attached. Due to weather related non-flying events last winter, I have some tentative rain dates scheduled too.
I will be receptive of new locations but the winter months tend to be wet so we need concrete to park and camp on. That makes Smithville’s parking lot a good event site.

The all new BARFClub.com!
The new site is now online and ready to use! Most of the functionality of the old site is available on the new site as well as some new features. The new site also allows easier management of content and will ensure a more up-to-date site with event dates, news, announcements, photos, and more. Take some time to look around and if you find issues, please let Margo, Lowell, or Travis know. For the next few weeks, we will be working to make sure everything is up to date, so please pardon any dust! ~Travis |
